In The Record Books

We were told that this February is in the history books for being the stormiest. I am thinking with this week’s coming temperatures it will be one of the coldest also. Today we are finally getting power out from Saturday/Sundays storm. The windchills will be in the -46C range tonight and for the next few days in the -50C range. Thankful for warm house, warm clothes and a car that works. I believe I will have a new battery put in after work tomorrow.

It’s a long weekend here. Not too many people going out. Thankfully not many places open. The Festival Du Voyager is presently on. Their attendance will be way down. Most of it is outside.

My grand boys are at dads this weekend. They are pumped to be there. I think sons girlfriend is not impressed. If they are going to make this relationship work, she better be willing to bend a bit. She also thinks he is too soft on the kids. Yes and no. When he and the boys are together it is generally good but the teenage daughter is another thing. He does need to step up with her and her anger at him. Ah teenagers. I am glad I am well passed that.

I didn’t do too much this weekend. Vacuumed, dusted, ran the dishes and got rid of some of Dexters belongings. I sure miss that little pup. The vets are saying that there are way more euthanasia cases this year. Not sure if it is the weather, or is it a cyclical thing or are more dogs just getting olde and sick.

Back to work tomorrow.

The kids had $3.00 to spend at the dollar store. They decided on the following.

It was no fish for supper but sure was fun being goofy.

Man

I didn’t think it had been this long.

FIRST WEEK OF FEBRUARY:

Blizzard, extreme high winds, Blizzard, extreme high winds, Blizzard, Extreme cold warnings

The first week was uneventful...sort of; I worked, but missed one day of work as that Blizzard was badddd. I took a day without pay.

I did not hit any stores, but did fill up with gas.

Congratulated my kids on their accomplishments- new job, job to change and plugging along with no days off for two years.

SECOND WEEK OF FEBRUARY

Much a repeat of the first week. Blizzard, extreme cold, Blizzard, high winds, Extreme cold and a Blizzard.

I made it in everyday. Yay me! On Tuesday Dexter had an appointment as his cough got really bad. Even though I took him in early morning, it was still 2:45 before they saw him. His little heart had doubled in size in the last 10 months. His heart was pushing up more on his trachea and further down his trachea was narrowing. They wanted to do an ultrasound, but I wanted to see how the three meds they put him on worked first.  Day one was good. He ran jumped played...his old self. After that it went downhill.

I spent money on a charger cord for my phone. I accidentally threw the other one out and was not going to go dumpster diving in the freezing cold. $32 later on the cord.

THIRD WEEK OF FEBRUARY:

.

Blizzard, extreme cold, Blizzard, high winds, Blizzard, Blizzard, extreme cold

Yup now getting hit with back to back blizzards. There is no place to put the snow. Two out of three snow dump sites are full. And yet they say we only have double of last year and still need at least double of what we have now. In previous snowy years, they have been able to haul the snow away from corners to cut down on accidents. They cannot do that this year. The insurance claims are going to skyrocket.

Tuesday was to be a follow up with the vet. I turned it into a put him down visit. As soon as the vet came in she said That is one sick dog. Good call on putting him down. She agreed the meds had done nothing. Now I am dog less and sad. He was my buddy. He was a lap dog except for when we went for walks out in the wild. Then he would just run. I sure miss him.

The rest of the week at work went well. I can now proceed with my projects I have going. I hope it stays quiet for a long while.

Friday was another Blizzard. Second one of the week. It calmed down this morning and now at 6:00 pm another Blizzard is starting. This one will be a longer one.

The city has a ring road around it. I have lived here since 1979 and only once has it been shut down. Now we are on the fourth shut down just this month. The schools have lost 12 days of school. On top of that is all the COVID lost days. Yeesh

Except for Dexters expenses which were accounted for, I have not been in a store this month. Next week I will need to get gas. Not a bad month in all.

Still Warm

November 12th and still warming. We hit 9C today, but the wind was brutal. 45-75km/hr. Mr. Oakley  could pass for the dog in the Never Endi...
