Thursday

I am still falling further behind in getting Christmas presents ready. I know, I know, at my age I should start in January. Enough moaning. Cloudy today with a couple of rain showers. I couldn’t believe it when I got up this morning and it was 10C out. It was like walking in a summer drizzle, too nice. As the day has progressed, the wind has picked up a bit. The maintenance guys put on all of our A/C covers today. It has made a big difference. I really do need to find black out drapes to keep the cold out of seeping through the windows. All in due time. Haven’t heard from anyone this week. Very quiet. Even Dexter is quiet today. Sitting on my knee watching the world go by. He has only barked once today. Must be feeling under the weather. His poop is on the soft side, meaning he got something to eat. It is probably from my cooking. Not to worry, he will be better tomorrow.  I think my neighbour has COVID and that is why he has been home so much. I think he went for his 14 day COVID test

Post Thanksgiving

I am now three days past the big celebration and I just finished up the last of the dishes. Those dishes being ones I took turkey, gravy, dressing etc in. They came back, each with only a dab of this and a dab of that. All’s well, I had two meals out of it and I still have salad left for today. Bonus! No cooking for three days.  I have been working on Christmas. I have set myself some high goals, hence the reason for takin vacation this week. In my mind I thought I would get a substantial bit done. In reality, I would need to start at 6:00 am and work till midnight to get done what I hoped for. Ah, my mind is still set to what I used to accomplish in a day. Now my body rules the roost lol. I may be changing a few things on my list. We have smoke back in the area. It is coming from way up North in Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan and a bit from east of here - roughly twenty miles. I will be keeping the windows closed and it even is bothering Dexter, making him cough like crazy. We will grow ol

Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving here in Canada and the rain doth pour. Could be worse but I won’t mention the S word. I cooked the turkey yesterday. I was surprised just how juicy it is. The price though..out of this world. I paid $25 this year. Last year I paid $10 for the same size. There were some in the freezer going for $56. That was sticker shock. With all the price jumping, I have only $10 left of my budget for the rest of the month. Thankfully my cupboards, freezer and fridge are stocked up. It pays to buy only when things are on sale or at a loss leader price. I am thinking we will all be shopping a whole lot differently now. The leftovers will make some good future meals. Tomorrow I will turn the carcass into broth.  We are meeting at daughters place. We all won’t be there as youngest sons wife is still not comfortable meeting inside. I don’t blame her. Youngest son works in the duct work industry. He is in and out of many buildings in a week. They are looking out for the rest of us.  It is go
